ย Mr. Brooks (2007) is a psychological thriller about a man who hides a dark side behind his success. Directed by Bruce A. Evans, Kevin Costner stars as Earl Brooks, a businessman and family man with a disturbing secret: he is a serial killer. Earlโ€™s dark side takes the form of Marshall (William Hurt), a voice guiding his homicidal urges. When a photographer (Dane Cook) catches Earl in the act of a murder, he blackmails him. Earl struggles to balance his criminal instincts with family life and increasing paranoia.

The film explores the tension between control and inner darkness. Costner delivers a compelling performance, as does Hurt as Earl’s sinister alter ego. Though the film builds suspense well, it suffers from pacing issues and forced plot twists. Still, Mr. Brooks provides a chilling exploration of guilt, morality, and addiction for fans of psychological thrillers.
