Gorgeous (1999) is a Hong Kong romantic action-comedy film directed by Vincent Kok and starring Jackie Chan, along with Shu Qi and Tony Leung. The film blends martial arts, romance, and comedy, showcasing Chan in a more lighthearted and romantic role than many of his typical action films.

The story centers around a young woman named Selina (Shu Qi), who is an aspiring actress and finds herself caught between a charming, successful businessman (Tony Leung) and a more down-to-earth, adventurous man (Jackie Chan), who is also a martial artist. While the romantic plotline drives much of the film, it also features several action-packed sequences, especially as Jackie Chanโ€™s character becomes involved in trying to protect Selina from a dangerous situation involving a criminal syndicate.

Though the film leans more toward romantic comedy than typical action, it still showcases Chanโ€™s well-known martial arts skills in carefully choreographed fight scenes. The film explores themes of love, self-discovery, and the differences between the glamorous world of wealth and the more grounded, simple lifestyle of the protagonist.

Gorgeous was moderately successful at the box office but received mixed reviews. While it was praised for its entertaining mix of romance and action, some critics felt it didnโ€™t quite live up to expectations for a Jackie Chan film, especially considering his usual focus on high-energy martial arts and physical comedy. Nevertheless, it has gained a certain charm over the years and remains a fun and accessible film for fans of both Chan and romantic comedies.
