Ghost (1990) is a romantic fantasy drama film directed by Jerry Zucker and written by Bruce Joel Rubin. It is one of the most iconic films of the 1990s, blending romance, suspense, and supernatural elements. The movie was a massive critical and commercial success, earning over $500 million at the global box office and winning two Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Whoopi Goldberg and Best Original Screenplay for Bruce Joel Rubin.

The story revolves around Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze), a young, successful banker, and Molly Jensen (Demi Moore), his artistic and loving girlfriend. The two share a deep and passionate relationship. One night, while walking home together, Sam is tragically killed during a mugging gone wrong. However, his spirit remains on Earth, caught between the living and the afterlife.

As a ghost, Sam discovers that his death was not a random act of violence but part of a sinister conspiracy involving his close friend and colleague, Carl Bruner (Tony Goldwyn), who is involved in a money laundering scheme. Sam learns that Carl hired the mugger, Willie Lopez (Rick Aviles), to kill him in an attempt to steal access codes to a bank account.

Unable to directly communicate with Molly, Sam seeks help from Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), a fraudulent psychic who discovers she has real abilities when she is able to hear Sam. Initially reluctant, Oda Mae becomes an unlikely ally, helping Sam warn Molly about Carlโ€™s betrayal and protect her from danger.

The film builds to an emotional climax as Sam confronts Carl and Willie while working to save Molly. In the end, Sam finds peace and ascends to the afterlife, saying a tearful goodbye to Molly and thanking Oda Mae for her help.
