Panic Room is a psychological thriller directed by David Fincher, known for his dark and suspenseful storytelling. The film revolves around a mother and daughter trapped inside the panic room of their newly bought home while intruders attempt to rob them. The movie combines tension, clever plotting, and intense performances, making it one of Fincherโ€™s signature works.

The film centers on Meg Altman (Jodie Foster), a recently divorced woman who moves into a spacious Manhattan townhouse with her daughter Sarah (Kristen Stewart). The house is equipped with a high-tech “panic room,” a fortified safe room designed for security in case of an emergency.

Soon after they move in, the house is invaded by three burglarsโ€”Burnham (Forest Whitaker), Junior (Jared Leto), and Raoul (Dwight Yoakam)โ€”who are after a large sum of money hidden in the house. However, Meg and Sarah manage to lock themselves inside the panic room, which is designed to be impenetrable.

As the burglars try to force their way into the panic room, a cat-and-mouse game ensues, with Meg and Sarah trapped inside, relying on their wits to survive. The situation becomes even more complicated when Meg discovers that the money the burglars are after belongs to her ex-husband, and it might be the key to their escape.

As tensions rise, the charactersโ€™ true motivations and fears are revealed, and the film builds to a suspenseful climax.

Panic Room received mostly positive reviews from critics, particularly for its suspenseful direction, strong performances, and Fincherโ€™s ability to create tension in a confined space. Jodie Fosterโ€™s performance was widely praised for her portrayal of a determined and resourceful woman under extreme pressure.
