Bagman (2024) is a horror film about Patrick McKee’s struggle to protect his family from a haunting supernatural force.
Patrick McKee (Sam Claflin) had a childhood haunted by folk tales about the “Bagman,” a mythical creature that abducts and tortures children. As an adult, Patrick tries to bury this fear, but life is not going well. After facing financial difficulties, he is forced to move back to his childhood home with his wife Karina (Antonia Thomas) and son Jake.
From the moment he returns, Patrick notices unusual phenomena: strange noises at night, objects being moved, and the appearance of shadowy figures in the dark. Jake begins to tell stories about a “man in a bag” that he saw. Patrick gradually realizes that the rumored creature in the legend has returned, this time targeting his son.
Patrick, initially in disbelief, is forced to confront his childhood trauma as events take a more sinister turn. He seeks out a paranormal researcher who explains that the “Bagman” is an entity that feeds on fear and uses it to kidnap the souls of children.
The struggle to save his son pushes Patrick to his limits. He discovers that a mistake from his past has invited the “Bagman” back. To save Jake, Patrick must perform a dangerous ritual, while confronting the guilt and pain he has been avoiding for years.
In a final battle, Patrick sacrifices himself to break the loop and destroy the “Bagman.” The film ends with Karina and Jake escaping the safe house, but a fleeting image in the mirror leaves the audience wondering if the “Bagman” is truly gone or still haunting.
