The Colony (2013) is a Canadian post-apocalyptic science fiction thriller set in a dystopian future where Earth has been ravaged by a new ice age. The remnants of humanity are forced to live in underground colonies to survive the harsh conditions. Colony 7, led by Briggs (Laurence Fishburne), struggles with dwindling resources and the constant threat of disease. When they receive a distress signal from a neighboring outpost, Briggs and a small team embark on a dangerous journey to uncover the truth behind the call for help.

Upon arriving at Colony 5, they discover a horrifying scene—most of the inhabitants have been slaughtered, and the few survivors warn of a terrifying threat. A group of savage, cannibalistic survivors has turned to murder and cannibalism to stay alive. The team barely escapes but suffers heavy casualties. Sam (Kevin Zegers), a young mechanic, realizes that the cannibals are now heading for Colony 7, putting everyone they know in grave danger.

As the cannibals lay siege to Colony 7, the remaining survivors fight desperately to defend their home. In a final battle, they manage to drive the invaders away but at great cost. With their numbers dwindling and no safe refuge left, Sam and the survivors decide to venture out in search of a rumored warm area where humanity might have a chance to rebuild. The film ends on a note of uncertainty, leaving their fate unknown as they step into the frozen wasteland.
