Heart of Dragon (1985) is a poignant blend of action, drama, and heartfelt emotion, directed by Sammo Hung and starring Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung in two of their most emotionally charged roles. Departing from the traditional martial arts and action-comedy formula that Jackie Chan was known for at the time, the film showcases a more dramatic narrative about family, sacrifice, and love, while still delivering intense action sequences.

The film follows Ted Wong (Jackie Chan), a hard-working and ambitious cop who dreams of leaving the force to sail around the world. However, Tedโ€™s aspirations are overshadowed by his responsibility to care for his mentally challenged older brother, Danny (Sammo Hung). Ted loves Danny deeply but struggles with the demands of balancing his career and his role as Dannyโ€™s caretaker, often feeling trapped by the sacrifices he must make.

Danny, on the other hand, is childlike and innocent, often getting into trouble without realizing the consequences of his actions. His well-meaning but naรฏve nature inadvertently involves him in a criminal scheme when he picks up a bag of stolen goods, leading to a series of complications that place both brothers in danger.

As Ted fights to protect Danny, the story becomes a deeply emotional journey about brotherly love, responsibility, and the lengths one will go to for family. The movie culminates in a powerful mix of action, drama, and a bittersweet resolution.
